"Each one win one!" At our District Assembly, General Superintendent Jerry Porter challenged us to challenge our churches. If each person in our church would lead just one person to Christ in the next year, our churches would double! This is exactly what has taken place in many South American and African countries where the Nazarene church is exploding with growth. I would personally like to accept this challenge and pass it on to every person in the Westerville Church of the Nazarene. I would also like to make three brief comments on this concept: We all need to share our faith in a variety of ways at a variety of times. We can’t stop and “take a break” after one friend, co-worker or neighbor finds Christ! We must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leadership and continually be looking for opportunities to share our faith. If we just don’t care or find it difficult to make sharing our faith a priority, we must ask for God’s grace and strength. He will provide opportunities. Make a list of people who do not know Christ and ask God for opportunities to share Him with these individuals. I can testify from personal experience that this works! We may win someone to Christ and they might end up attending another church! Pastor Mike took Dr. Porter’s challenge to heart and last week he shared his faith and prayed with someone who accepted Christ. This person does not live near Westerville so his conversion will not result in our church growing. Who cares?! Our goal is not to build the Kingdom of the Westerville Church of the Nazarene. Our purpose is to build the Kingdom of God. Several years ago I was privileged to lead a young couple to Christ. Although they are not able to attend our church I am convinced they truly found Christ and began a relationship with him. We are striving to build the Kingdom of God. (Let God handle the growth in our church! He will bless us if we are faithful.) Sometimes (many times) we share our faith with someone and they do not accept Christ. We can not and are not called to save people! We are called to be faithful and obedient. God, through the Holy Spirit, must draw each person to Himself. We must plant seeds and proclaim the truth of salvation. God will take care of the rest. I challenge each of us to lead at least one person to Christ this church year. Let’s make it a matter of prayer and build His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. |
"¡Cada uno gana uno!" En nuestra Asamblea de Distrito, el Superintendente General, Jerry Porter, nos desafió para que desafiáramos a nuestras iglesias. ¡Si el próximo año cada persona en nuestra iglesia guiara a solamente una persona hacia Cristo, nuestras iglesias se duplicarían! Esto es exactamente lo que ha tenido lugar en muchos países de América del Sur y de África, donde la iglesia del Nazareno está explotando con el crecimiento. Personalmente, me gustaría aceptar este reto y pasárselo a cada persona en la Iglesia del Nazareno de Westerville. También me gustaría hacer tres breves comentarios sobre este concepto: Todos tenemos que compartir nuestra fe en una variedad de formas y en diferentes ocasiones. ¡No podemos parar y “tomar un descanso” después que un amigo, compañero de trabajo o vecino, encuentra a Cristo! Debemos ser sensibles al liderazgo del Espíritu Santo y continuamente estar buscando oportunidades para compartir nuestra fe. Si a nosotros no nos importa o nos resulta difícil el compartir nuestra fe como una prioridad, debemos pedirle a Dios que nos de la gracia y la fuerza. Él proveerá las oportunidades. Haga una lista de personas que no conocen a Cristo y pídale a Dios la oportunidad de compartir con estas personas. ¡Puedo testificar por experiencia personal que esto funciona! ¡Podemos ganar a alguien para Cristo y ellos podrían terminar asistiendo a otra iglesia! Pastor Mike tomó el desafío del Dr. Porter enteramente de corazón y la semana pasada compartía su fe y oró con alguien que aceptó a Cristo. Esta persona no vive cerca de Westerville por lo que su conversión no aportará ningún crecimiento a nuestra iglesia. ¿A quién le importa?! Nuestro objetivo no es construir el Reino de la Iglesia del Nazareno en Westerville. Nuestro propósito es construir el Reino de Dios. Hace varios años tuve el privilegio de guiar una pareja de jóvenes a Cristo. A pesar de que no pueden asistir a nuestra iglesia estoy convencido de que realmente encontraron a Cristo y comenzaron una relación con él. Nos estamos esforzando para construir el Reino de Dios. (¡Deje que Dios maneje el crecimiento de nuestra iglesia! Él nos bendecirá si somos fieles.) A veces compartimos nuestra fe con alguien y no aceptan a Cristo. ¡No podemos y no estamos llamados a salvar a la gente! Estamos llamados a ser fieles y obedientes. Dios, por medio del Espíritu Santo, ha de atraer a cada persona hacia Él. Hay que plantar las semillas y proclamar la verdad de la salvación. Dios se encargará del resto. Yo reto a cada uno de nosotros para que guie al menos a una persona hacia Cristo en este año de la iglesia. Vamos a hacer esto un asunto de oración y construir su Reino en la tierra como en el cielo. |
